Global Publishing Sales began as Publishing Concepts, Inc., which was founded by Joe Clote and a partner in Clote's basement in Webster Groves, Missouri, USA in August of 1992.

Publishing Concepts' first client was the Northern Illinois Tourism Council in Rockford, Illinois. Publishing Concepts sold advertising and marketed the NITC Visitors Guide.

Shortly thereafter, Publishing Concepts began publishing the Official Illinois State Highway Map for the Illinois Bureau of Tourism in Chicago and branded/distributed a line of merchandise for the Missouri Division of Tourism. In the winter of 1992, KPLR Channel 11 in St. Louis hired Publishing Concepts to provide marketing support and advertising sales in their Kid's Club membership publication.

It was in October 1993 that Commerce Publishing Company of St. Louis purchased the year-old Publishing Concepts, Inc. With immediate resources at their disposal the Publishing Concepts team acted quickly to secure additional accounts, including:

It was during his tenure at Commerce Publishing Company that Clote worked in other areas of advertising sales and marketing for publications and trade shows in the financial services and art & framing industries. After being in business since 1907, Commerce Publishing Company was sold in May of 1999 to Pfingsten Publishing Company in Cleveland, Ohio.

Soon after the Pfingsten/Commerce merger, the new Publishing Concepts, LLC partnership was born. Clote continued his involvement with Pfingsten Publishing, LLC. while at the same time co-producing the Official St. Louis Visitors Guide and The Official Around Town Map.

In the summer of 2000, Publishing Concepts, LLC began Publishing  Missouri Meetings & Events magazine and by October, 2001, acquired Missouri Meetings & Events magazine from the Meetings & Events Publishing Group of Minneapolis, Minnesota. By spring of 2002 the sales, circulation and editorial departments were relocated to their true home in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. Today, Publishing Concepts, LLC owns and produces trade shows including the Missouri Meetings and Events Expo, maps, article reprints, FAM tours, Web sites, sales seminars, resource directories and turn-key printing and publishing services for the travel industry.

In September 2003, Publishing Concepts, LLC moved to its current world headquarters located at 6590 Scanlan Avenue in the heart of Saint Louis Missouri, USA.
